The PadPublisher allows you to edit and create issues and this functionality is not accessible within the reader app available to end users in the app store. In the version of the PadPublisher there is a symbol (
) at the bottom right of the title screen that lets you create new issues and work with the existing ones.
Tap "issues" and a list of your issues appears.
If you had not made any new issues you may see some issues preloaded. Please note that you can not change some documents.
To add a new issue (also the first), press the button "new issue".
A dialog in which you can specify the settings for the new edition:
Any new issue always needs an unique identifier (unique ID), which must differs from other issues but is otherwise arbitrary. Ideally, choose an abbreviation of the title and attach the release time. E.g: if your publication is named "gourmet" and is published each month, you could ,for the October 2010 issue, use the following Unique ID: gourmet_10_2010, or G201010. It is important that this identification is different for each issue.
In the next field "title" please enter the title of your magazine. The title should include the date of the output, for example, "10-2010 edition" or "Autumn 2010".
In the following box “cover label "enter a short description of the content. This label appears under the cover image in the cover flow display. Make sure that the text is not too long - some keywords would be for the best.

The next fields are to be used only in a few special cases. Typically, you don´t change anything related to these fields and just click the button "create new issue".
The other fields are used in the following cases:
The "First Page single" causes the first page to be displayed at the right side of a double page magazine layout. This is useful if your document starts with a title page and continues with 2 pages layout from page 2-3, 4-5 and so on.
Depending on what format the pages in your PDF file are (the PadPublisher the so-called Crop-Rect), the page size does not exactly match the iPad-page format. In this case, the PadPublisher scaled the pages so that they fit perfectly. However a small margin may be left over either above or below or right and left of it.
With the settings "portrait: black borders" and "landscape: black borders" you specify whether such margins are in portrait mode or landscape mode (double-side display) shown in white or black. Whichever looks better depends on your publication. It is often useful in portrait mode (for single pages) black edges, double pages use white edges.
Finally, you can decide between a large and a smaller font for the content table with the "content table font size”(the table which appears when the user presses the "Content" button in the navigation bar).
Warning: The setting for "PDF Password" must be used only in consultation with us!
